New Release: Groove Ministration EP – Astral Infusion Records (Minimal)

I am proud to announce my latest record – Groove Ministration EP – on Astral Infusion Records! Groove Ministration EP is a minimal house record composed of four original tracks, including a special dub mix. It is out now on BandCamp!

The Tracks

Groove Ministration is an ethereal groover with some infectious stabs accentuating a rolling bass line.

Don’t Make Me Laugh is a bit on the trippier side, with sweeping pads and rolling kicks. The second half after the break elevates the track with the introduction of psychedelic stabs.

Greyhound (Original Mix) is a chill groover driven by percussion and stabs. It uses sample someone I used to know recorded sitting in a bus station years ago.

Finally, for Greyhound (Dub Mix), I rearranged a few devices and altered some signal paths so I could use real dub techniques pioneered by Jamaican dub artists in the 70’s. I recorded the dub live and made some minor mix adjustments after the fact. The version on the record is the fourth take.

The Inspiration

This record came together immediately following the completion of my previous independent release, Simulation.

Originally, Simulation was a four-track EP featuring the 3 tracks on the Simulation release (Simulacra, Simulation, Simulation (Instrumental Mix)) and Don’t Make Me Laugh. Thanks to some mutual connections, I managed to get the Simulation EP in front of the label boss from Eleutheria Records. He was interested, but he was specifically was interested in Don’t Make Me Laugh – not for Eleutheria, but for his other sub-label, Astral Infusion.

He asked if I had any other unreleased material like it. At the time, I didn’t. But I said I would cook up a fresh EP built around the track he liked. Over the next few weeks, the rest of the record came together and Groove Ministration EP was born.

Overall, I am very pleased with the end result. It’s some solid minimal house, and I am glad that it found a home at Astral Infusion Records.
